In case you haven’t heard, or surmised from the title of this blog, Kevin & I (Reina) are engaged! We met in the Honors program in our freshman year at Seton Hall University and started dating a few weeks later on November 18, 2005. It’s been an amazing time together since then, with some few tough spots when Kevin had to go home to Maryland for the summers, but we’ve pulled through and I think we’re strong as ever. We’ve been talking about marriage for a long time now, so it wasn’t a surprise when he proposed nearing the end of our senior year. All the same, it was sweet and memorable.
We picked out a ring together at a small local jeweler’s – Paula’s Fine Jewelry in Chester, Maryland – and they were super helpful and I think we picked The One! (Not to be confused with the One Ring To Rule Them All.) Anyway we were spending part of Easter weekend at his house because he had to pick up the ring on that Friday, but I insisted that he wait until after Good Friday to propose, because well, Good Friday is the saddest day in all of Catholicism! But I kind of immediately regretted that I had said that because I was expecting him to wait until Easter & I knew it would be difficult to get through the next few days knowing he had the ring!
That Friday night, I was feeling pretty tired so I wanted to get to bed pretty early. But Kevin made me stay up to watch Spaceballs, which I thought was pretty funny but again I was sleepy. When Spaceballs was over, he put in Spy Hard, a Leslie Nielsen movie which was even MORE dumb so I was getting reaaaaally drowsy. Finally he turned it off and said, “It’s 12:01. Wake up for a second!” and I lifted my head and he was on his knee holding the ring out to me! Apparently he couldn’t wait to be engaged either so he just made me watch whatever VHS tapes he had to try to keep me awake until it wasn’t Good Friday anymore! So obviously I said yes (or else we wouldn’t have this website) and I cried and it was lovely.
And I pretty much haven’t taken my eyes off the ring yet!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYSSSS SO AWESOME!!!!!!
There is apparently a lot for me to ascertain outside of my books. Thanks for the important read,
Very few posts peak my interest or my comments, but this one was great!
Kevin and Reina,
Sadly we will not be able to attend. We had hoped that we could attend and be able to visit with the family and meet Reina. It’s George Bush’s fault!!! Just kidding. You two are always welcome down here and have a place to stay if you get this way in the future. We will look for the pictures after the fact on line. Love to you both. We will be there in spirit.
Love, Uncle Den, Sandra, and Meghan Sade.
